Willingness
When you ask yourself, “How do I know if I’m willing?” take a moment to connect with what your body is telling you.
True willingness isn’t about making a grand announcement or forcing yourself into a new behavior… it’s a gentle, inner knowing that you’re ready to lean into life, with all its discomfort and wonder.
You might notice it in the way your chest feels softer, or how you allow each sensation to simply be, without protecting yourself or clinging to old stories. Your body offers subtle cues…a quiet ease in your posture, a calm curiosity in your breath… that tell you you’re open to what life is offering right at this second.
Sometimes, you might experience that small spark of interest when faced with a challenge or a new possibility. It’s that feeling of “what if” rather than “what must be,” where you notice you can drop your habitual defenses and really be present. It is when you no longer feel compelled to justify, explain, or protect yourself that you know you are willing. Rather than shutting down or retreating when feelings arise, willingness shows itself when there’s a natural movement toward acknowledging, experiencing, and learning from every moment.
As I mentioned before, I’m waking up on a Sunday morning and contemplating what willingness entails. What is it that brings people to want, to be willing, to commit… to learn and understand!? To reboot. To clean the clutter and debris. To metamorphosis into a new being.
Willingness is… an inclination to do something or favorably inclined in mind; READY!
I’m ready to try new things! I’m ready to try on new outfits and new earrings. I’m ready to eat and try new fruits and other foods. I’m ready to try new adventures and get out of my old rut. I’m ready to go into new community groups and make new friends. I’m ready to make new community. I’m willing, I wanting, I’m committing…and recommitting when I drift, to creating a new story within myself where people are allies and I’m whole. I’m lovable. I’m included. ❤️
You are invited to check in with yourself: Are you fully present with whatever sensation arises? Do you sense a lightness or a playful energy replacing the tension of old habits? That is the inner indication that you are, indeed, willing.
💫
So, listen to your body’s gentle invitation. Notice if you’re leaning into curiosity instead of defensive stubbornness. When you can simply allow your experience… without striving to change it or running away from it… you are showing yourself that you’re ready to step into the fuller range of your life. That is the unmistakable sign of being truly willing.
Always remember, be ready, be willing ❤️

We share a common experience in our community. We have old stories… and we are building our new stories. Perhaps one word at a time… perhaps one chapter. And… we celebrate with each other our journey of healing and thriving together.

Hello, so happy to connect with you 🤍 I just subscribed to your content, and I hope you feel like subscribing to mine too 💌 xx
That’s a wonderful article you’ve written here today! Much appreciated and much love! I know the feeling all too well, because I have the willingness to try new things. That’s why I have made some new poetry friends on MeetUp, for example. I also have sent in my poetry collection for submission towards a poetry book called “Transformation” to the small presser of Alternating Current Press. Much appreciated once again to your lovely article!
